Lib Dem Councillors demand action on badly damaged pavements12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 23rd Jun 2005
Cheadle Hulme Lib Dem Councillors Stuart Bodsworth, Suzanne Wyatt and Ingrid Shaw have demanded that action is taken against developers as many pavements are damaged during work on building sites. The council's planning rules are now to be altered and the applicant is to be made responsible for pavement repairs after the building work is finished. This should make the pavements safer and also save the council tax payer a lot of money. Recently a pavement of a local street was broken up by a lorry driving over it. The cost of repairs falls on us, the council tax payers. That money will be wasted if vehicles continue to drive over pavements. If you see a goods vehicle drive over a pavement, please take its registration number and note the date and time, then let us know.
