Think global, act local

CELEBRATING OUR local Council's first two years as a Fair Trade Borough, Mark Hunter led the Borough's call for world leaders to act on world poverty. Cllr Hunter said, "The terrible reality is that 30,000 children die everyday as a result of poverty and preventable diseases. World leaders must act now."

Local action

Our local Council was one of the first places in the country to be awarded 'Fair Trade Borough' status. The award is given for a Council's commitment to using Fair Trade products and promoting their use in shops, cafes and workplaces across the Borough.

"This is something we can all do locally to help end poverty and promote self sufficiency in developing countries. I'm delighted with the response from local people," said Mark.
