Mark lobbying for physiotherapy services2.49.51pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 6th Nov 2006
Mark Hunter - MP for Cheadle - was in action in the House of Commons this week to lobby against cuts in physiotherapy services. In a question to the Leader of the House of Commons - Jack Straw MP - Mark demanded that the government take action to halt threats of cuts caused by national NHS financial deficits. Latest figures reveal that as a result of the financial crisis plaguing the NHS, 93% of this year's graduates in physiotherapy have no job to go to and that physiotherapy services were some of the most vulnerable to cutbacks. Commenting after the exchange in the chamber, Mark said, "Several local people have been in contact with me to tell how physiotherapy is one of the NHS services that is suffering due to the funding crisis in the health service overall. There are a lot of people in our area who rely on such services and it would be wrong for the government to view them as an easy option when it comes to cutbacks."
