Cheadle MP Mark Hunter, Stockport Council leader Brian Millard, local Councillors Suzanne Wyatt, Ingrid Shaw, John Pantall, Maggie Clay, Stuart Bodsworth, June Somekh and Pam King, with local campaigners Helen Foster-Grime and Lenny Grice and a number of other local Liberal Democrat activists met together on Saturday in Bramhall Park for the unveiling of a special park bench dedicated to the memory of former Cheadle MP Patsy Calton. Patsy's husband Clive, who now works in the MP's office in Cheadle Hulme also attended as did other members of the MP's team including Elaine Maltby who was office manager for Patsy and now does the same job for Mark.

The idea originated when a group of friends and supporters backed by the new MP, decided to set up a memorial fund to create a lasting tribute to the former MP. The monies raised will not only pay for the bench seat - installed at the side of the Hall overlooking the lawn, but will also pay for a tree which will be planted in the park a little later in spring.

Commenting after the event Mark said, "Bramhall Park is the ideal location for such a tribute. Not only was Patsy a local Bramhall Councillor before becoming the MP, but she was also a member of the 'Friends of Bramhall Park' group and I know spent many happy times in the Park. Patsy was such a tireless worker, she will always be remembered in these parts, but we are pleased there is now also a permanent tribute for all to see."
