Cheadle MP, Mark Hunter has welcomed students from two local schools to Westminster in the last two weeks. Cheadle Hulme School's Politics and Government sixth formers, and students from Cheadle and Marple Sixth Form College both visited the Houses of Parliament within a week of each other attending a tour, and listening to debates in the House of Commons.

The schools also took the opportunity to quiz their local MP, Mark Hunter at a special meeting. Questions were insightful and varied ranging from how politics will change under the prospective new Prime Minister Gordon Brown, what the average day is like for an MP, to Mark's views on Iraq.

Speaking after the event, Mr Hunter said; "It's always a pleasure to welcome local schools to Westminster, I really enjoy meeting both students and their teachers. The students always ask such interesting and varied questions and seem to enjoy the tour. It's so important to get young people interested in politics, to realise how relevant it is for their everyday lives. I would really encourage all local schools to visit Parliament when they can."

Tours, tickets to the House of Commons and Lords to listen to debates, and group meetings to talk to Mr Hunter and ask him questions can be arranged through his Westminster Office for more details. Please call Bethany Wood on 0207 219 3889 who can advise schools on necessary arrangements.
