Mark Hunter puts on the 'Wrong Trousers' for Children's Hospitals and Hospices

5.30.26pm UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 13th Jun 2007

Cheadle MP, Mark Hunter, this week joined forces with the Oscar winning animated stars Wallace and Gromit to help promote Wrong Trousers Day (WTD) 2007. Mr Hunter posed in the 'Wrong Trousers' with the life-sized characters, hoping to encourage as many people as possible to get involved with this year's Wrong Trousers Day on Friday 29th June.

This year's WTD has a sports theme, 'Get your Kit on', and participants pay £1 for the 'right to look wrong'. The money raised will go to the Wallace and Gromit Children's Foundation, who are hoping to raise £1 million in order to improve the quality of life in children's hospitals and hospices around the UK. The foundation supports a wide range of initiatives in hospitals and hospices which benefit children, including art, music therapy and family facilities.

Speaking after the event Mr Hunter said, "I really hope that local residents will get involved with this fun cause, especially local schools. This is a great opportunity to raise money for a superb charity that does an awful lot of good work for children, and I am proud to be supporting this cause.

Every year the Wallace and Gromit Children Foundation raises hundreds of thousands of pounds to provide activities for some of Britain's children undergoing traumatic treatment in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK."

To wear the 'Wrong Trousers' on 29th June you need to register online at www.wrongtrousersday.org, where you can receive a fund-raising pack.
