Mark meeting with Charles Reeve to discuss his book
|
Mark Hunter MP last week met local author and war veteran Charles Reeve of Bramhall, and heard from him some of the amazing tales recounted in his recent autobiography "No More Than a Boy".*
Mr Reeve is a veteran of the Royal Navy during World War Two, serving in the Arctic Convoys amongst other positions. His new book tells of his experiences before and during his career in the Navy which shaped his life.
The book tells his personal story, and details the role he played in World War Two including landing at 'D' Day. It also tells of how his career took him to places all around the world from the Arctic Circle to Singapore.
Mr Hunter, who has championed the cause of Veteran's rights, including the promotion of Veterans badges said "It's always a great honour to hear firsthand experiences from a war that shaped an era, and I'm sure many hundreds of people in the area would relate to Mr Reeves' book. It is a truly fascinating personal memoir which I have thoroughly enjoyed reading.
"It's also great to see people in our area having the confidence to take the stories of their lives to a publisher. It was the sacrifice of many ordinary people that mattered most during the war, and this first hand account makes compelling reading!"
