Last Saturday, MP Mark Hunter joined local children, players and volunteers at Cheadle Hulme Cricket club for their 'Cricket Force day'. The cricket force scheme, sponsored by Nat West, is designed to encourage local people to undertake improvements to their Cricket facilities.

Mark met with Cheadle Hulme Cricket Club committee members and some of the 100 people helping with the renovations at the cricket club. The renovations included repainting the cricket club, relaying the club patio; work on the practice nets and tree planting

Commenting on the cricket force day, Mark said:

" The Natwest Cricket force scheme is very worthwhile. I am in favour of any project that encourages local involvement and sense of community ownership and it certainly did that. It was also good to see so many young people and children taking part in the fun. Let just hope that our boys can bring home the Cricket World Cup as I am sure that would be a tremendous boost to the game."
