A memorial plaque for the late MP for the Cheadle Constituency, Patsy Calton, was unveiled recently by her husband Clive Calton.

The plaque inside Cheadle Library is dedicated to the memory of the life and work of Patsy Calton, Mark Hunter's predecessor as the MP for the Cheadle constituency. The special ceremony was attended by Mr Hunter, and Cheadle Councillors Pam King and Brian Millard as well as Patsy's friends and local Lib Dem supporters.

Speaking after the ceremony Mr Hunter said: "It was a pleasure to be invited to see the special plaque for Patsy unveiled, and to see so many of Patsy's friends and supporters to celebrate her life and work. She was dedicated to working hard for the local area and its residents, and deserves to be remembered in the heart of our community.

"Cheadle Library is the perfect place for the plaque, as this is a location where she held her advice and help surgeries for local residents. I know that when people walk past it they will remember her and her many achievements."
