As part of the Chinese New Year celebrations, Mr Hunter and local children released special red balloons into the sky - as is Chinese custom. A special Chinese Dragon Dance was also held in the Shopping Centre to celebrate the festivities, along with a martial arts display to complete the entertainment.

Commenting, Mark Hunter MP said:

"This was an excellent occasion for the Cheadle Hulme Shopping Centre and local residents alike. Linda Lee and her team deserve our thanks and congratulations for their contribution to the community with events like this.

"On such a bitterly cold day, everybody - young and old alike - still seemed to really enjoy themselves, and it was a real pleasure to be invited to open the event.
