Last Saturday 21st June local MP Mark Hunter officially opened this year's Bramhall festival and joined two highly decorated service veterans - Captain Robert James Robinson aged 87 of the Royal Irish Fusiliers and First Lt Norman Harris aged 91 of the Gordon Highlanders (TA) - to judge the best group in the festival parade.

The winners, local dance group Team Spirit Cheerleaders, impressed with their enthusiastic and energetic display as the parade passed through Bramhall village on Saturday morning.

Commenting, Mark said:

"Year after year Bramhall delivers a fantastic Festival. The organisers did a great job, and they were joined by dozens of first class organisations to make a great day out for all the family and an unmissable annual occasion.

"Although Team Spirit eventually carried off the trophy for best display, there was stiff competition from a large number of local schools, businesses and community organisations who took part in the parade.

"I'd like to congratulate all involved in helping to make this occasion such a fabulous success."
