MARK PRAISES LOCAL ALLOTMENT SOCIETY AFTER SUCCESSFUL OPEN DAY

Last Sunday 15th August the Cheadle Hulme Allotment and Garden Association hosted an open day at their site on Billy's Lane (off Heathbank Road). Local MP Mark Hunter and Cllr Suzanne Wyatt were in attendance as to view the excellent work that has been going on for decades at the allotments.

The day was an excellent opportunity for local residents to learn about what goes on at the site which sees dozens upon dozens of plots produces a huge variety of fruit and vegetables. Each plot holder pays a small fee every year, and day-in-day-out the site is bustling with growers. There is also an on-site shop which sells a range of gardening materials.

Commenting, Mark said:

"I was delighted to once again be invited along to this enjoyable annual event.

"The open day is a great opportunity for the allotment community to reach out to local people and promote interest in growing to all generations.

"Apart from the wonderful display of fruit and vegetables on display, there is also a real sense of community at the site - It really is encouraging to see so many people of all generations involved!"
