Cheadle MP Mark Hunter, along with local councillors Iain Roberts and Pam King, joined members of the public from across the area at the Cheadle Green archaeological dig in Cheadle Village on Saturday 11th September.

Archeologists have uncovered parts of Cheadle Hall, an imposing 18th century building finally demolished in 1958 when it fell into disrepair, along with various artefacts from the hall. The weekend has been filmed by Cheadle and Gatley Film Makers.

Cheadle Civic Society, Cheadle Green Focus Group and Stockport Council have all contributed to the project.

Commenting, Mark said:

"This work is giving the whole community a fascinating insight into Cheadle's history. It's great to see people of all ages getting involved in the dig - my thanks to everyone involved in making this such a successful weekend."
