Local MP Mark Hunter was again a special guest at the annual 'Light Up Bramhall' event and Christmas Tree Festival in Bramhall village this weekend.

The occasion, which took place on Saturday 4th December, was exceptionally well attended despite the freezing temperatures and Mr Hunter joined local school children in helping to light up Bramhall at 5pm when they officially switched on the Bramhall Christmas lights for the 2010 festive season.

Commenting, Mark said:

"This is fast becoming an established community event in our local community calendar and special thanks are due to the organising team including Bramhall Methodist Church for hosting the event and to all the local traders who have contributed generously to make this such a memorable occasion.

Thanks also to all the local residents - young and old alike - who turned out in such numbers and helped make the event so special.

"Bramhall village centre is a terrific success story, and residents here - as well as those from further afield - can look forward to a festive season bustling with activity in all of the shops, eateries, and bars.

"At the same time, nobody should forget the real meaning of Christmas and the fact that it is not just a commercial event but a time for contemplation and reflection. I wish all local residents a very Merry Christmas and a happy and peaceful New Year."
