Liberal Democrats deliver tax cut for people in Cheadle – Hunter

Cheadle MP Mark Hunter has welcomed the Coalition Government's Budget, which delivers the key Liberal Democrat manifesto commitment of cutting taxes for those on low and middle incomes and raising the poorest workers out of paying Income Tax altogether.

The Budget also scraps Labour's planned fuel duty rise, gives real help for local businesses and creates thousands more apprenticeships.

Commenting, Mark said:

"This Budget shows the huge difference Liberal Democrats are making in Government. Last year's Emergency Budget was a rescue mission for the British economy, this year's Budget sets out the foundations for future growth.

"I am proud the Liberal Democrats are cutting taxes for 110,000 people on low and middle incomes across the Stockport Borough. This policy has gone from the front page of our manifesto to the pockets of thousands of people across Cheadle.

"From next month, people up and down the country will get a £200 tax cut and today's announcement means another £136 back in your pockets next year.

"Liberal Democrats in Government have also given families real help by scrapping Labour's fuel duty rise and set out a range of policies to help pensioners and first-time buyers, boost jobs and create apprenticeships.

"All in all, the Budget demonstrates how we can deliver on our spending plans without the need for more cuts or tax increases. We are now putting in place the measures necessary for sustainable growth."
