Local MP Mark Hunter recently attended the celebration ofGreenbankPreparatory School's diamond jubilee. Mr Hunter celebrated, along with Headteacher Janet Lowe, past and present staff, parents and pupils the immense success of the school over the last 60 years during a special event held at the schools Heathbank Road premises.

The festivities, which took place on 11th June, included a barbeque on the Saturday afternoon followed by a dinner dance that night with a garden party on Sunday.

Greenbank was founded in 1951 by young parents Karl and Linda Orsborn in a large suburban villa on Heathbank Road, Cheadle Hulme. The school has enjoyed considerable success over many years and many former pupils were quick to pay tribute to their old school.

Commenting after the event, Mark said:

"This event was an enjoyable celebration for all those who attended. "Greenbank Preparatory school has become a distinguished local institution which can be proud of what it has achieved."

"It was great to be able to celebrate along with the teachers, pupils and the local community have all contributed in establishing Greenbank as such a successful school."

"It was a pleasure to have been invited to be part of this very special occasion."
