CHEADLE HULME CELEBRATES CHINESE NEW YEAR!

chinese NY 2012Last Saturday 28th January Cheadle MP Mark Hunter joined with local traders and residents in Cheadle Hulme Shopping Centre to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Despite a bitterly cold afternoon, the occasion was well attended with dozens of local families coming to the village centre to join in with the festivities. Balloons were released and there was a special "Chinese Dragon" performance through the Shopping Centre. A special martial arts display and a performance from Starlight Express also entertained shoppers.

The Mayor of Stockport as well as Cheadle Hulme Councillors John Pantall, Lenny Grice, Suzanne Wyatt, June Somekh, Paul Porgess and Stuart Bodsworth were also present at the event which marked the year of the Dragon.

Commenting, Mark said:

"The Chinese New Year celebrations in Cheadle Hulme get better and better every year and really are an enjoyable event for local families across the area.

"I'd like to thank Linda Lee and her team from Rainbow 88, along with all other local traders for their superb organisation.

"It's always a pleasure to come along and support community events and this on is always a winner. Many thanks to all who helped make it such a success!"
