Christie manufacture the iconic WimbledonTennis Championship Towels

Mark Hunter MP has welcomed the news that towel manufacturers Christy is to relocate its UK Head Office to Cheadle from their current base in Tameside. The Cheadle MP has written to the Chief Executive of towel manufacturer Christy to congratulate the company on their acquisition of a new Head Quarters in Park Square, Cheadle, and welcome them to the area.

Christy has a profile dating back over 150 years and is one of the leading towel manufacturers in Britain. Amongst other achievements, Christy supply the iconic Wimbledon tennis championship towels.

The company is set to take up over 12,000 sq ft of offices and showroom facilities at Orbit Developments' Park Square complex on a 10-year deal, with 40 staff expected to make the move.

Commenting, Mark said:

"This is fantastic news for the local area, providing a boost to the local economy and yet another sign of Stockport's attraction as a key location for business.

"During these tough financial times it is more important than ever that we focus on economic growth and creating new jobs, and this is exactly what Stockport Council has been busy doing day-in-day-out.

"Following the recently revealed figures showing that Stockport has the fastest increasing number of business start-ups in the North West - this is yet another positive announcement for our area."
