STILL TIME FOR WOODFORD RESIDENTS TO HAVE THEIR SAY

October 9, 2012 3:33 PM

Head and shouldersWoodford residents only have a few days left to respond to the official consultation on proposals to build 950 new homes in Woodford, and local MP Mark Hunter is urging all those concerned to have their say before deadline day, next Monday 15th October.

Mr Hunter has already spoken out against the development because of its size and scale, saying that he would "not support the current proposals which would effectively triple in size the existing Woodford community and have a severe impact on local roads."

Anybody who lives in the area can go to the SMBC Consultation portal at www.stockport.gov.uk/woodfordspd and submit their views on the proposals. Residents can also attend the next "Area Committee Meeting" this Thursday 11th October 2012 at 6.30 pm which will be held at Woodford Community Centre, Woodford.

At the meeting, Paul Lawrence, Service Director (Place Development), Stockport Council, will make a presentation and there will be the opportunity to ask questions and take comments from the public.

Commenting, Mark said:

"It is essential the people of Woodford have their say on these proposals which will inevitably have a huge impact on their area.

"I have already made my own view clear that a development of this scale is completely unacceptable.

"Woodford is a unique village and we must continue to put up a fight to protect its special character and ensure the best possible future for the area.

"I would encourage as many people as possible to respond to this consultation at www.stockport.gov.uk/woodfordspd."
