MP and President of Stockport Parkinson's Disease Society Mark Hunter was the special guest last Friday at the Parkinson's Disease Society coffee morning at the Parkside Social Club on Midland Road, Bramhall.

Mark was welcomed into the club by Parkinson's Disease Society Branch Committee Member, Peter Godfrey, and his team of volunteers and announced the prize winners of the bumper raffle which took place to raise much needed funds for the charity.

As a charity, Parkinson's UK provide support to Parkinson's sufferers and fund research into possible cures and treatments for the condition. Mark has worked with the charity in Parliament and sponsored a parliamentary event in 2010 to help promote the charity.

Commenting, Mark said:

"It was a pleasure to help out again at this enjoyable annual event. My thanks go out to all the organisers who made the event possible.

"Having worked with Parkinson's UK in Parliament, I know that as a charity they do great things, supporting people with Parkinson's and funding research into the disease.

"Their commitment and determination to find a cure for Parkinson's is unwavering and the funds raised today will go a long way to making that possible."
