There was lots of fun at Cheadle Hulme Family Market on Saturday, as Peppa Pig and characters from 'Frozen' were on hand to meet and greet with local children; who also received a free goodie bag.

For the adults there were lots of market stalls selling a wide variety of goods including clothes and gifts, while food was provided by local Italian and Chinese restaurants. Co-op Travel in Cheadle Hulme also donated a mini cruise as the top prize for a raffle raising money for Beechwood Cancer Care.

Councillors Keith Holloway, John Pantall and Paul Porgess all attended and met with many local residents and stallholders.

Local MP, Mark Hunter, who was a special guest on the day commented afterwards saying:

'Cheadle Hulme is a fantastic place to live in part thanks to events such as this. It was great to see all the stalls set up and such a big turn-out of residents giving much needed support to local businesses.

'It was clear to see that all the children that had come along were having a wonderful time, and credit must go to the organisers for all their hard work in running this event for our community. Thanks also for the backing of local traders.'

Event organiser, Kerry Louise Burgess, added:

'The event was an absolute success, what a special day we had! The crowds, the buzz, the amazing locals, businesses, families and the local councillors came out! It's all about adding inspiration to the community and reminding people that local crafters and businesses are the heartbeat of our towns; it really was community showcased at its best. Our next event is on the 13th and 14th December at the shopping centre where we will celebrating in Christmas style - beginning at 11am and running until 4pm.'
