Erin Jones, a year 6 pupil at Moorfield Primary School in Hazel Grove, has won local MP Mark Hunter's annual Christmas card design competition. Her festive drawing of a Christmas tree surrounded by presents will now be made into a card that will be sent to 40,000 local homes in Cheadle constituency.
Hundreds of entries were sent into Mark's office from all over Cheadle constituency as talented young artists took up the challenge sent to local schools last month.
Mark paid a special visit to Moorfield to congratulate Erin in person and to give her a number of prizes in recognition of her achievement.
Commenting afterwards, Mark said:
'Every year the standard of drawings is excellent; I am so grateful that hundreds of local young children have entered great designs for my Christmas card. As ever the final decision was a tough one, but Erin's colourful Chrismas scene is a very worthy winner.'
