Lord Paddy Ashdown, former leader of the Liberal Democrats, was welcomed by local MP, Mark Hunter, as the guest of honour at Cheadle constituency Liberal Democrat Annual Dinner last night, Thursday 12th March.
Fellow Greater Manchester Liberal Democrat MPs, Sir Andrew Stunell and John Leech, joined Mark, local councillors and over a hundred supporters for the special event, enjoying a three course dinner before hearing from Paddy on a wide variety of issues, including his expert insights in current foreign affairs in Syria and the wider Middle East.
Paddy also paid tribute to the hard work and dedication of Mark Hunter and said he ‘deserved’ to be re-elected on May 7th. The forthcoming general election was one of the most important in recent rimes and he was confident Mark would win again in Cheadle.
The evening concluded with a whisky or champagne raffle.
Commenting afterwards, Mark Hunter said:
‘It is always a privilege to welcome Lord Ashdown to Cheadle constituency, and as ever he was great value and fascinating to listen to. My thanks to all those who helped make the evening a great success – a good time was had by all.’
