Update from Tom Morrison MP on Sunday rail service at Bramhall & Cheadle Hulme
Many constituents have been extremely frustrated by the repeated cancellations of the Sunday rail service on the Manchester-Stoke line, affecting our local stations in Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme. Tom Morrison MP wrote to the Managing Director of Northern Rail asking for answers.
Tom is happy to say that she has been back in contact with him with an explanation, which you can read in full below. Conductors are currently being balloted on new proposals which should see greater availability of train crew on Sundays from the 28th November, albeit only an interim four month basis.
Tom said “While I am glad to see that there is a potential end to rail issues that result in no Sunday service, this is only a temporary measure. I will continue lobbying both Northern Rail and the Department for Transport to ensure we have a viable long-term plan for not only restoring the existing service, but increasing it. I am calling for greater investment in our local rail infrastructure to make sure all those that don't have access to a vehicle are able to travel when they need to.”
Tom will be updating residents as soon as he hears more, and will continue pursuing this issue in Parliament.
