Tom Morrison has written to Transport for Greater Manchester demanding immediate action to address the deteriorating school bus services affecting families across Cheadle and Bramhall.

The MP's intervention follows mounting concerns from parents about buses that are overcrowded, unreliable, and in some cases, unsafe. Children have been left stranded at bus stops when buses arrive already full, with some pupils forced to miss school or arrive late after being abandoned in poor weather conditions.

Most alarmingly, there have been several safety incidents involving poor driving standards. In one recent case, a pupil was sick on a bus being driven at speed and was then asked to leave, leaving the child stranded. On the same journey, another student suffered a neck injury when the bus hit a kerb.

The crisis particularly affects services to Bramhall High School, including the 852, 850, 877, and 887 routes, though parents from across the constituency have reported similar problems with services to other schools. On consecutive days last week, one bus service allowed 120 students to board, then restricted numbers to just 88 the following day, highlighting the inconsistent and chaotic nature of provision.

In his letter to Alison Chow, Head of Bus Services at TfGM, Tom highlighted that this is not an isolated issue. A group of Stockport headteachers have requested a meeting with the Director for Education at Stockport Council and TfGM, demonstrating the borough-wide scale of the problem.

Tom will meet with Paul Williams, Headteacher at Bramhall High School, on 12th December to discuss the matter further and review TfGM's response.

He is calling on constituents experiencing school bus problems to contact him with details of their specific issues, including which schools and routes are affected, to strengthen the case for immediate intervention.
