Save Our Green Belt

The local Lib Dems are fighting to save the local Green Belt

In Bramhall and Woodford, the Labour Government’s plans remove protections from large areas of green belt land and allocate them for housing. They have also announced a 20,000-home new town at Adlington, right on Woodford’s doorstep. None of these sites would have been reclassified in our original plans, nor were they intended for housing.

We know new houses are needed for local families on Council waiting lists. But they need social housing, not developer-led executive estates. They need locally-led development in the right places for Stockport, not top-down decisions from Westminster. And they need schools, GPs, and transport to make it all work. That’s why we want you to help us say no to this top-down, developer-driven plan imposed by the Labour Government!

We want to send a message to the Labour Government to say that this is not what planning should be. We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.

Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.
