Tom Morrison MP has reiterated his call for urgent action to tackle the growing problem of off-road bike crime in Stockport, following an outpouring of concern from local residents and a rapidly growing online petition.

In recent weeks, communities across the borough have witnessed an alarming increase in incidents involving masked individuals riding off-road bikes in parks, streets, and residential areas. These riders often operate recklessly and illegally, putting pedestrians, children, and drivers at risk.

Tom said:
“I’ve spoken to residents who feel intimidated, unsafe, and let down. This is more than just anti-social behaviour — it’s putting lives at risk and damaging community trust.”

Back in October, Tom raised the issue directly with the Home Secretary, asking what powers police need to better respond to these dangerous incidents. Despite this intervention, the problem persists — and residents are now making their voices heard by signing a petition demanding stronger enforcement and more resources for local police.

Tom added:
“I share the anger and frustration people are feeling. I’ll continue to push the Government, work with Greater Manchester Police, and support residents in demanding urgent action. Everyone has the right to feel safe in their own community.”

Tom is following up again with the Home Office and local authorities and has encouraged anyone affected by these incidents to get in touch and share their experiences.
