Where is our Station?
Cheadle was promised its first train station in over 100 years. The money and planning permission is there. But building work still hasn't started. Tom Morrison MP is calling on the Government to end the delays and get spades in the ground.
Why does this matter?
A station in Cheadle would connect Cheadle's 23,000 residents to Stockport, Manchester Piccadilly and Chester by rail. It would mean fewer cars on our busy roads, easier journeys to work, school and appointments, and more people visiting our high street.
What's the hold-up?
The station was meant to be open by now. The delay is down to timetable changes on the Mid-Cheshire line. Only the Department for Transport can tell Northern to stop at Cheadle. Stockport Council and Transport for Greater Manchester don't have that power. The Government does.
What has Tom done?
Tom has raised Cheadle station in Parliament, written to the Rail Minister and met Northern Rail to push for answers. But residents are still waiting for a clear answer from the Government.
What can you do?
