Proposed cuts to fire services

Tom Morrison and the local Liberal Democrats have said they are concerned with Metro Mayor Andy Burnham's proposed cuts to fire services in Stockport. 

The proposals could see eight fire engines being cut and the area losing 194 fire officers. 

Whilst Cheadle fire station does not appear to be closed in the proposals, many people are concerned that the cuts could lead to an already under-funded service being over-stretched.

Liberal Democrat candidate Tom Morrison and Cllr Mark Hunter, the Leader of Stockport Liberal Democrat Group, have said they respect the decision by seven Labour MPs to leave the Labour Party over issues around the leadership, anti-semitism and Brexit.
