Proposed cuts to fire services
Tom Morrison and the local Liberal Democrats have said they are concerned with Metro Mayor Andy Burnham's proposed cuts to fire services in Stockport.
The proposals could see eight fire engines being cut and the area losing 194 fire officers.
Whilst Cheadle fire station does not appear to be closed in the proposals, many people are concerned that the cuts could lead to an already under-funded service being over-stretched.

Lib Dems Demand Action On Police Cuts
In a stark message, the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police has warned that budget cuts could see even fewer policemen and women on our streets and officer numbers reduced to the lowest levels since the 1970's. Cheadle residents, already concerned about the increase in crime levels locally, will be alarmed that official figures show a 17% increase in recorded crime over the last twelve months.
